Let‘s go to Bukbu beach! (a traditional name of Yeongildae Beach)  
 
Bukbu beach is one of Pohang‘s main beaches, and it is favored by locals for relaxation. 
 
Bustling with people year round, the beach is located 1.5 km to the north of the express bus terminal (Siwae), with an endless row of cafes, shops, sashimi restaurants and karaoke joints along the way. 
 
You can appreciate the view of Yeongil Bay and POSCO across the water from here. The white sand on the beach is very fine, which has made it a popular place for swimming among families with kids. Needless to say, all amenities are provided: free parking, free camping sites, changing rooms and showers. 
 
Thanks to its convenient central location and park-like planning, which the city hall has created over the last few years by laying pavement decking and planting trees on the seaside, the beach is a popular tourist spot year-round, not just for the Pohang region but for the whole of the Daegu-Gyeongsangbuk-do region. 
 
The beach, which vividly displays all 4 seasons, is equally popular with people from outside of the region.

During the day, most visitors come to the beach to swim, but it goes through an extraordinary transformation when the sun sets. 
 
The nightscape view of POSCO as seen from Bukbu Beach is truly spectacular. 
 
Also, the beach acts as a stage for a crackling-hot fireworks festival called Pohang International Fire and Light Festival at the end of July, with festival activities taking place after dark. 
 
During the high-summer holiday season, the 4-day firework festival takes place on Pohang beach, which is recommended for those who want to escape their heat-drained routine. 
 
There are also a number of other events such as sports competitions, singing contests, concerts and a night market.
