The Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum is located in Jukjang-Myeon, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do and is the biggest Arboretum in Korea. 
 
Located 650 m above sea level, it is the only alpine Arboretum in Korea, and the blue sea to the East, Pohang city center, Hyangroh mountain peak and Chullyungsan Mountain spread out in panoramic view. 
 
Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum represents a crucial inventory of native species and botanical genetic resources for the nation. It boasts 190,000 specimens of 1,522 endangered, rare, specialty and wild species within its collection. 
 
The garden’s premise is made up of 24 small story-themed gardens. 
 
These include the Alpine garden, where one can find species found in high altitude areas; Changpo garden, which features a marsh and Russian iris; Yeonmot (pond) garden, which features a pond and benches; and Ulleungdo garden, which exhibits the wild plants of Ulleungdo (Island) 
 
The institution also has a Medical & Edible Herb Garden, Conifer Garden, Shrubbery Garden, Fruit Trees Garden, greenhouses, a dazzling number of beautiful flowers and plants, etc. It is a wonderful treat to the eyes and mind. 
 
A 650 m green resort that embraces heaven. 
The garden is an ideal place for families who want to begin a hiking trek to take a breather and observe nature and ecology.
