Students of Gymnasium Dresden Plauen Visit Pohang-si

From May 2nd to May 10th, 17 students and teachers from Gymnasium Dresden Plauen visited Pohang to visit tourist attractions of Pohang-si and experience traditional culture.

 

 

On May 2nd, youth visitors arrived at Seoul and visited DMZ. On May 4th, youth visitors arrived at Pohang-si to meet homestay family and experience Korean home. On May 6th and May 7th, youth visitors enjoyed experience activities prepared by Pohang-si and visited tourist attractions. At Yeongildae Beach, youth visitors experienced marine sports enjoyed riding dinghy sailboat and jet board. At Traditional Culture Experience Center in Duk-dong, Gibuk-meyon, youth visitors enjoyed Taekkyeon experience and tofu making. Youth visitors also visited Yeono and Seo Theme Park and rode Pohang Cruise. Also, youth visitors visited Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju to experience the traditional beauty of Korea.

 

 

Gymnasium is an academic high school composed of excellent students who are studying for college. Gymnasium Dresden Plauen is also a school for fostering excellent talents through student’s high learning ability and active special activities. 

 

 

Dresden signed friendship city agreement with Pohang-si in 2016. Dresden is a global science city and historical city with 10 advanced research centers such as Max Planck Research Center and Fraunhofer Research Center and other universities. After constant effort on talent exchange between Dresden and Pohang, Gymnasium Dresden Plauen and Pohangjecheol High School carried out mutual student exchange and homestay program. In the beginning of June, students of Pohangjecheol High School will be visiting Dresden.

 

 

Choi woong, deputy mayor of Pohang-si, said “Investment on youth may be invisible at present. However, investment on youth will lead to unimaginable results in various fields in the near future” and that “The exchange between two schools will be bridgehead for mutual cooperation in Pohang-si and Dresden in the future.

 

 

Tina and Emma, students from Gymnasium Dresden Plauen, said “I am so happy to have the opportunity to meet friends in Korea which has similar historical circumstances as Germany. I also enjoyed various experiences and learned traditional culture in Korea famous for K-Pop”. German students will be observing regular classes in Pohangjecheol High School and participating in project class. Students will go back to Germany in May 10th.
